Riding clothing has one job: keep you comfortable and safe in the saddle for hours. Breeches or jodhpurs with full-seat grip stop you sliding, shirts and jackets should move with your shoulders, and everything should survive regular washing.

What to Look For

• Breeches: full-seat or knee-patch grip, four-way stretch, and a waist that stays put when you’re in two-point
• Shirts: breathable fabrics, no bulky seams under a body protector
• Jackets: waterproofing that actually breathes for wet-weather rides
• Base layers: merino or technical fabrics for cold mornings

Our Advice

Buy for the discipline you ride most. Dressage riders need pale, clean competition looks; eventers and trail riders need durable, weatherproof kit. A well-fitting pair of breeches is worth more than three cheap pairs that bunch and rub.
